42. 4 september 2019 mie business showcase

Finally 6 months of blood, sweat and tears, the journey of this entrepreneurial was a bumpy and enjoyable one. Today we present to the next batches of MIE students and a few panel judges about HYDRA in the library. Honestly the journey from the start was the toughest as we have to implement a lot of things from scratch where most of us might and might not have experience with. The progress from the start till now honestly speaking is a big progress and how far we have come.

At the end of the business showcase i consulted Mr Adrian regarding social media marketing, he mention how in effective boost post in facebook and instagram for a start up. For now i would continue to work hard and consult Mr Roderick and Mr Adrian for advice for HYDRA future implementation.

I am thankful for the opportunity and guidance from my fellow batch mates and two professor Mr Roderick and Mr Adrian.

Today after i end my last lesson at 5.30pm, i went to my company to delivery the 7 bracelets to each and every individual of them. The feedback receive most of them are they really love their bracelet and will help promote to their social of friends. I love to hear feedback from people as i believe every feedback received i could continue to make HYDRA even better.

38. 26 August 2019 BRACELET ARRIVAL ON HAND

Today we have team meeting for our business plan for our business showcase on the 4 september, all of us come together to split our role and prepare for the next week. As expected the arrival time the bracelet engraving to be done on early september, i met KAI to take my customer stocks that have been engraved and i will be meeting them on wednesday to pass the bracelet.

37. 24 August 2019 WIX OR NOT?

Website handling from wix was a hassle, as my team and i decided not to continue using wix as our main website as all our orders are usually comes from warm market and google docs we decided to stop our subscription from wix. However, wix have deduted the payment for august and we could not able to able to get the refund we have to take into account into our financial, one mistake learn that i have learn actually wix may be a good to start with however is not a platform when is comes to flexilibity like domain and doing business because the help center are not as helpful as they are as i have emailed them multiple time.

Received the email from MiE Batch 50 for business showcase, time really flies in a blink of an eye we have soon come to the end of the minor, i represent my team mate to send the email and garther the team to be on task and prepare for the business showcase slide and discuss when and where we show meet before the deadline.

35. 20 August 2019 FUTURE HYDRA

After disucssion, all of us decided to plan our expansion after HYDRA bracelet, i send in a idea and similar design of the bracelet in a earring design, as i have researched earlier cartier has one earring i found similar that could be out next line HYDRA new launch idea, this idea actually come out on the day our photoshoot and at the point of time we felt is a good idea for expandsion. After 1-2 months of HYDRA till now we felt is it a good time to carry out.

From there, we assign KAI to alise with the manufacture if there is possibility to convert our bracelet to earring. For now i cannot wait to see the HYDRA earring.


34. 16 August 2019 pre-order closing

As KAI going to do the engraving for the HYDRA orders on Monday, all of us standardize and close the pre-order on Sunday, i have a couple of friends previously wish to get HYDRA however due to commitment they didn't order, as our order come to the end, i personally text each and every of my friend to keep them updated for HYDRA. I manage to get 6 orders in from texting, as time is limited trying my best to push on my social media story too, as for now i am happy with the achievement made till now.

33. 14-15 August 2019 urgent how? we got your back

One of my friend would like to give HYDRA as a gift as birthday present, he got back to me and ask if he could get the bracelet ideally next week, as the time is really tied i discuss with my team if we would work things out, as kai havent update us regarding when the bracelet will arrive.. Thankfully the bracelet has arrived today, i decided to meet KAI over the weekends to get the bracelet so that i would have time to pass it to my friend.

NDP is a fun day for me as I meet my friend as she would like to know more about HYDRA!

As most of us focusing on the sales of HYDRA, i took the initiative to update the team on how the sales if the team, after finalize the number of sales with sarath, i continue to push out more sales and how long would the bracelet be arrive on our side. Continue from there i push the team member how they are doing and as my role i continue to update and revamp my individual blog.

Today, maintaining the website, email checking for HYDRA, we received a question from a guest regarding on the shipping and doubts, i emailed back to the person regarding her questions. Honestly speaking, while receiving feedbacks or questions from the market allows me to know how people think about out products and how i could do better for HYDRA.

30. 29 July 2019 learning process

With continuous of broadcasting and promoting to my social media and social of circles the sales for this month still remains as one, as Sarath has made more sales in this month, i asked how he approach and make the sales. From there i learn and unlearn my approach and continue to improve along the way.

29. 23 July 2019 first individual sale

Today made one sales from my friend, it may not be a big amount but is a baby steps to keep it going, i continue to broadcast to my social of circle explain the story of HYDRA.

28. 19 July 2019 official launch for hydra pre-order!

Today is the day we start broadcasting out our first release of MULAN preorders. As for the website, we still faced some issue regarding the domain and another issue faced while using wix is the payment where we have to link epayment, since we decided to just stick to manual or easier access payment like paynow and paylah our team decided to just carry on to do the preorder through Google Form.

As time are getting close to our officially launch and website wasn't done yet, i continue to spend hours to revamp the website purchase flow from the product to add to cart to view products to our pre-order google form on our website from there it allows customers to purchase through the google form and make orders from there. In the google forms there are step by step process for the customers to follow, cant wait to share the news to the people around me.

27. 16 July 2019 complete of hydra website

I have finally done the website for HYDRA. After making all the changes, we have also bought the plan from WIX, however the situation is that the connecting of the domain from wix was a difficult one as it requires 48 hours to connect to the domain.

26. 14-15 July 2019 website implementation ii

As for now KAI and Sarath took over the social media part, i would be sololy handling on the website. Since i have abit experience on wix, we decided to work on wix.

I have created the page for HYDRA, and asking feedbacks from the team mate how i should add more vibe in the website to make it looks better. I alternate the design accordingly to the theme and continue to do the flow of the website from product listing to add cart and payment for HYDRA.


25. 8-9 July 2019 website implementation

As we have our social media existence, now left it the website. These two days i trying my best to work on the website for HYDRA and editing of the photo for HYDRA of the shoot we had done.

24. 7 July 2019 PHOTO SHOOT day

Today is the day of the photoshoot!

Jolyn and Kai's gf is down for the shoot today, and since it too last minute i decided to step in the shoot for HYDRA, the shoot starts from 11 to 4pm. Being the model for HYDRA wasn't an easy task, thinking of ideas and concept for the shoots i also think of pose for the theme to match with our shoots.

A big thank you to the photographer,Chris, he is a very experienced and patience person and he also gives me a few ideas and poses to help me with some last minute ideas that pop up on that day.

After the shoot, it is indeed very tired, the team also continue to work on the social media presence and start the order of the campaign. And from there i will work on the website for HYDRA.

23. 3-6 July 2019 discussion on PHOTO SHOOTS

3/7/19- Preparation for the shoot, we search for place and the model of HYDRA. In a short period of time it will be hard for us to look for model, I decided to call Sarath, Kai's girlfriend and myself to be the model for HYDRA.

4/7/19- Kai discuss the brand purpose and tagline in the group and we decided to move on from there.

6/7/19- Tomorrow will be the day of the photoshoot, i asked for advice what outfits the guys will be wearing and things to bring. We decided to go for 5 shoot, discussing if which dress would be suitable. As of now, Sarath girlfriend would be wearing white and for me i will be wearing black on that day.

Before tomorrow shoots, i discussed with Jolyn with the details and flow that we will be doing together. To make the situation of the shoot comfortable and relax i asked if she needs anything like props for tomorrow and just be herself will do. Can't wait for tomorrow photoshoot!

22. 2 July 2019 self photo shoot

Woke up early in the morning to shoot for HYDRA. I went to the venue early to shoot, as planned i decided to go into tropical vibe and high end style for HYDRA photoshoot. This are a few photos that i took myself. These photos are going to be for marketing and i have also edited and sent to the group for feedbacks and from there i edited the photo and post it on social media.


21. 1 July 2019 PHOTO SHOOTS planning

As discussed yesterday, i will be doing the initial shooting for HYDRA for our pre-order launch.

After meet my professor after my weekly report for my final year project, i think of ideas for my next day shooting for HYDRA. As i have no prior experience and knowledge of shooting, i decided to go through different theme and scene for my photoshoot. I came out with different theme shoot for HYDRA and send it to the group for feedbacks the other team mates seems agree with what i have proposed. With the Total of 7 different shoots to go, as for now due to the time constraints, i would do one or two shoots for HYDRA tomorrow and push different shoot in another day.

20. 30 JUNE 2019 future plan for hydra

Team meeting, today we met at AMK Hub Starbucks for future implementation of HYDRA. The purpose of this meet up is to distribute the samples and discuss the content creation of the website. We also discussed we should get our pre-order really as soon as possible as we might not have much time.

After discussion, i went home and try out the sample and look into the details and size to check whether the bracelet fits.

I let my family members try out the sample and realise the size of the bracelet it does fits perfectly however it might not be wore in a long run so i suggested to the team that we could get a bigger size bracelet for our customer so that we can meet the needs of different sizes hand.

19. 27 JUNE 2019 posting for hydra

After the first post of MULAN, i continue to post a second post for MULAN to share and share the values and the meaning behind MULAN, i also added a feel hashtag to market HYDRA and from there we did have an increase in followers.

18. 24 JUNE 2019 sample arrived

The sample has finally arrived, the rose gold colour and the engraving on the bracelet is really nice. We decided to arrange a meet up to discuss on our future plans for MULAN

17. 20 JUNE 2019 MESSAGE FOR MULAN PART2

As i have did some ideas for MULAN, i throw in my ideas in our group chat and discuss in the group. Basically it is about the plan of the first release on how we going to release the Mulan. I also did poster for MULAN from the initial poster that Sarath did. After discussion, we decided to go with white and i will release the first post on our social media platform. 16. 17-19 JUNE 2019 mESSAGE FOR MULAN

About to launch the sneak preview message for HYDRA.

On the 17 June we discussed on creating HYDRA first series MULAN. From 17 june to 19 june I started my own reading and researching the story and the empowerment of Mulan. By reading different article and storyline, I found a few inspiration and ideas to jot it down on my notepad. However, the research are not a very smooth one as i faced some setback.

The struggles i face while reading article and get the information of Mulan is to try to relate it back to Hydra the message behind i want to convey tell the people about. However, i manage to relate this better as a point of outsider point of view, when i see Mulan the first series of Hydra what are the things i can related and impact me as a person, with that i manage to overcome and get my first draft completed.

Mulan message comes behind 4 values "美德勇仙", this 4 values are inspired by the story line itself, mulan herself break the stereotype of the community and as a female she is brave enough to regain the honours to her family and herself. As i was doing this 4 values i was thinking of the story and how this 4 values would relate to the 21st century women, working towards our mission of empowering through fashion, i came out with the 4 values definition for Mulan and written in my first draft.

15. 15 JUNE 2019 Progress update

Progress update and social media marketing...

As i take the role of marketing and creating content. Sarath made a poster for HYDRA, MULAN series. Each and everyone of us throw in ideas to find the suitable fit of our design while Sarath make the further amendment. Kai got reply of the material of our bracelet, and with that i throw a few possibilities question like will the material wear of or how many layers are coated to KAI talk to the suppliers. With that we could give our assurance for our future clients.

We finally ordered the samples for HYDRA, i am very excited as all of us have seen the sample photos from the suppliers. As regarding of the design, all of us have dilemma to go with the Fan of the Mulan series and which would look better. After consideration, we decided to go with the HYDRA and the fan. [photos are attached below]

Social media marketing: The numbers of followers on our Instagram and Facebook are not very well, we decided to engage our follower and customers through different form from posting content, updating stories, and sharing values to audience.

14. 14 JUNE 2019 ENGAGE SOCIAL MEDIA AUDIENCE

Engage with the audience in our social media.

After the first post of Hydra there is no further update post, to keep engage with the audience i spent a few hours to come out with the animation for HYDRA. Since is friday, i found an ads animation that is very creative so i decided to create my own animation for HYDRA. With that i get it down and do it on my own. I posted this instagram and facebook to engage more follower and content making for HYDRA.

13. 13 JUNE 2019 SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATE

Social media update: the amount of followers did not increase significantly.

I continue to look and research on alternatives to gain followers in social media to have better awareness. As for now Instagram we only have 20 followers and 2 for facebook page. Currently i am working on redesign on our logo background so that it would be better to added into the subsequent post of HYDRA. Also, looking for photos, edit them and extract the photo to make content for our page. I also do seek out from KAI regarding facebook pre marketing that he did for his own company marketing and the video behind the scene of the HYDRA engraving from the manufacture side, he mentioned he would get back to me when the sample it out.

With that i already have plans to work on the post of our companies value to let the views to gain knowledge and awareness of our brand. For now i would continue to work on better content for Hydra to gain more recognition.

With that i would now go off now and keep going!


12. 11 JUNE 2019 - The launch of HYDRA social media

Time check is 10 am trying to manage and organise social media before the official pre marketing for hydra social media. First thing first started to do poster for the first post of the social media(Facebook & Instagram), the team decided to use the poster Sarath has did and i would write up the tagline for the team to mass market out to the social media and friends to follow us.

12 pm i started to post the poster and the tagline on social media and ask the team member to start showing or telling friends about our brand Hydra. As the team start to share, i constant would refresh and do some research and update to maintain the HYDRA page to stable to prevent any page error.

3pm continue to add hashtag and marketing out to friends and family member the followers of the webpage does not seems to be doing good so i decided to post HYDRA on my personal Instagram page to gain more followers. With that i manage to gain a couple more followers from my friend and family members. Even though the number does not seems to be a good amount but is a good beginning to start with!

Sneak Preview of HYDRA!

Without any prior experience in marketing, from the start of consultation till today I never stop looking through different brands and online platform to get myself started off by marketing ideas. From googling social media marketing to brand scrolling in Instagram trying to extract as much information as possible to close the connection of lack of marketing and with that at least I am prepared for launch the sneak preview of HYDRA first series.

As we come together to decide the first series of HYDRA would be “Mulan” . Mulan idea came about when we trying to rename HYDRA. We decided to stick to HYDRA as a brand and release different series and “Mulan” is the first series Hydra would be going to release.

Initial content of the social media would then be improve with content and finalize of the layout of the platform. I started to create social media (Instagram and Facebook ) content for our sneak preview and also the update of the website company logo and name.

Time check 3.40, moving on to the first series I would start working on incorporating the 4 chinese character “美德勇仙” into our website and also help sarath with the 4 value of narrative for future ad uses in our future posts.

As of now, update social media has been done and I would continue to work on the first series of HYDRA tomorrow after I end my work.


10. 8 June 2019

Consultation with professor for Hydra.

As a marketing social media role, the current maketing is still not sufficient enough. There are content creation, storyboard and the branding of awareness to hype up the Brand.

Points that pointed out in the consultation :

1) By having pre-launch without having the product to keep the follower engage or a storyboard to sell.

2) Is Hydra" brand name suitable for our design of the bracelet and it is suitable to move on that fits our company product.

After the consultation, Sarath and i stay back and discuss about the problem and the points we missed out. With that we can carry on to move forward!

9. 7 June 2019

I created social media account for Hydra(Facebook & Instagram) and email for future purposes. As for now we do not have content in the page as we havent finalise the content of our company.

Update from KAI side with the suppliers, we manage to get a few updates regarding price, MOQ, expect arrival of the product, service cost, shipping or other additional cost. After getting a few information, all of us skype meeting how we going to move forward from there.

Since we decided to do Engraving on our brand bracelet as a product. After finalising of the brand logo we could not get the font that being engrave on our product.

As sarath and kai couldnt find the exactly font, i decided to do a bracelet protoype up with the software available for kai to send to the supplier.

With that Kai could use the image to send and alise with the supplier.

7. 29- 31 May 2019 Survey results

As the market survey was sent out to everyone from there we could able to know our audience better.

29/5/19- By keeping on par with the timeline, i texted the group how is the survey going by doing so we could move forward with our plan.

30/5/19- We have total of 73 responses through our marketing survey. This market survey are from our targeting market which are the millennials.

From this survey, it allows us to know our market better by allowing us to extract the top 3 design out of the 8 designs of our targeting audience and the price range affordability which is $20-$30 @ 35.6%, lastly the traits the audience are looking in a bracelet which is design that takes up most of the percentage @ 71.2%.

31/5/19 - With the response collected, for now we would wait for KAI to aisle with the supplier the top design we receive in our marketing survey. From there i would moved on to our marketing like Instagram and Facebook.

24/5/19- 27/5/19 - Finalisation of our product photo for our Marketing survey. In additional, we finalise how we should do our logo, personal opinion Logo would not be as nice as the word HYDRA. With further discussion with the team mate we decided to use the HYDRA word as logo we think that using the word would be more classy for our brand.

5. 23 May 2019 Idea discussion

We had skype meeting together, in our discussion we select a few designs and question that would suitable for our marketing survey. We split our role in this segment and today role i will be updating the team blog. While Sarath will create the market survey and kai alise with the suppliers. The current pace we are stil on par with our timeline at the same time we would look forward to supplier reply and prepare out marketing survey.

4. 16 & 21 May 2019 - Moving on with the new idea

16/5/19 Coming together all of us agree with the logo putting on the design and with that we continue as improving of the logo to suit the bracelet.

Update from Kai side with the supplier of our charging bracelet, we require 2-3 weeks to test our whether the manufacture side able to produce the product we want and if it is successful we have to bulk purchase and with that is there are many concerns regarding it like.. There is no fast charging, different sizes and type of cable and engraving.

21/5/19 After contacting with the suppliers the idea of creating a brand new USB bracelet is not possible unless we go with different metal finish, kai also propose using leather to wrap the cable for our bracelet but due to test and do up the prototype it would be costly,so all of us decided to drop the idea of the charging bracelet and go to plan B which do solo-ly bracelet. With that we start to do market survey and searching for suppliers that is suitable for HYDRA.

3. 5-15 May 2019 - Start after Finals

Finals has come to the end and this would also mean the start of HYDRA.

5/5/19 - Discussion on looking for suppliers, designs of the bracelet and quote of the design. Lastly the design of our logo.

15/5/19 -16/5/19 - Discussion on the logo, color scheme of the bracelet however i realize that the our logo does not fit the bracelet design so i decided to re-edit the logo

Using the software edit i straighten the side and make the logo small so that the shape of the logo does not look weird on the bracelet.

We also discuss the material of the bracelet for example leather coated or steal coated which would be suitable for our design.

With the update from the supplier we look into second consideration of our ideas which require us 2-3 weeks to test the charging cable if the ideas are working we have to pay additional charges and duration would be out of the timeline. Weighing the Pros and Cons of the we still discussing what we should do it move on.

First Presentation

Today is the first presentation for HYDRA, we received a lot of feedback's from Mr Roderick and fellow entrepreneurs.

1. When it comes to design we have to take into account the design of the bottleneck of the cable.

2. The cost of the material and the manpower for metal/steel material.

3. Since we decided to use kickstarter as one of our platform, there are things to take into account like 20% and card payment other administration fee for financial cost.

4. The market would not be there as majority of the people are not bracelet user.

After the presentation we come together to rush through the finalized business idea and project and work on the feedback given to create a better HYDRA charging bracelet. With that our team decided to focus on our finals and after so we continue to push harder and make a HYDRA a successful line.

Sketching Ideas for Hydra

We come together to discuss our branding and design for Hydra. The design ideas we are working on is the letter 'H'. As we discuss all of us googled and throw in as many ideas we could and extract the few relevant one into our main idea. When come to design the 'H' for Hydra the luxurious and simple design let me thought of Hermes. By referring a few designs from google I came out with a few 'H' design and discuss with the team. Since we decide to innovate a charging bracelet and we found out there is market in singapore we decided to push on this idea through with the unique-ness of our design.

Hydra letter 'H'

This design is inspire by Hermes i used software to design out the 3D version of the H logo. However from this it might look exactly like Hermes Logo so i continue to use this 'H' design work around it.

Re-vamp of 'H' + Charging portable

I still quite love the design of H so i decided to stick with it but doing it a little different by making the 'H' into half where is the opening of the cable USB to charging head.

The above design is the design i came out using software. The opening out of the cable will be at the 'H' and The behind is where the mini portable charger comes about our idea and adding 'HYDRA' for our brand.
